Bulgaria develops new cultured image

People looking for property in Bulgaria may be pleased to hear that the nation is ditching its cut-price image and attempting to cultivate one associated with "style, culture and opulence".

A recent article in Quest Bulgaria magazine stated that as Bulgarians become richer and developers look for an upmarket clientele- a different type of tourist is looking to explore the treasures of the region.

Chris Goodall, managing director of Quest Bulgaria, said: "The evidence for this is overwhelming. Everywhere you look there are boutiques, designer shops and even the wine industry is taking on a new look. "The evidence of Bulgaria's re-branding is all around. Golden Sands, once the darling of discos and 'kiss-me-quick' tourists, has undergone a dramatic change – and it's good to see."

Meanwhile, emerging nations are becoming increasingly popular among those looking to buy property abroad, with a surge of interest in the past three years, according to HiFX's Annual Global Property Hotspots summary.

An article in Finance Daily cited Bulgaria as an emerging market with high investment potential.
